  Joint Announcement of the People’s Bank of China and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority

  To deepen financial cooperation between the Mainland and Hong Kong, and to meet the demand of residents in both places for secure, efficient and convenient cross-boundary remittance service, the People’s Bank of China (PBoC) and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) have jointly pushed forward the cooperation between the China National Clearing Center (CNCC) and the Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited (HKICL) in linking the faster payment systems in the Mainland and Hong Kong (hereafter referred to as Payment Connect).  It is hereby announced that:

  Foreign national charged following significant cash seizure at Perth Airport

  A Pakistani national is expected to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today (20 June, 2025) charged after the AFP allegedly found about $100,000 in cash in his luggage at Perth Airport. The man, 21, was also allegedly trying to travel under another person’s name when he was stopped yesterday (19 June, 2025) before he could fly interstate. An investigation began on 19 June when Perth Airport security staff allegedly detected a large amount of cash in the man’s carry-on suitcase as he passed through an x-ray screening point.

  Bulgaria: EPPO conducts searches in investigation into corruption involving EU fisheries funds

  (Luxembourg, 19 June 2025) – On behalf of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) in Sofia (Bulgaria), the Bulgarian National Police carried out several searches today, in an investigation into suspected passive corruption and abuse of office affecting EU-funded maritime and fisheries programmes. The searches targeted private residences and work premises in Sofia and Oryahovo and are linked to officials from the Directorate “Maritime Affairs and Fisheries” at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food – the managing authority of the EU funds concerned, suspected of passive corruption and abuse of office.
